Control - How to move the train forward in the Eagle Limited AWE area and the Shifted Passages explained

It’s time to meet a new AWE.

During your search of the Eagle Limited AWE area of the Investigations Sector in the Control AWE DLC, you'll discover that Hartman is hiding out near a very special train. You might have, however, decided to visit the Fra Mauro AWE area first.

This train is itself the AWE for this area and, if you want to explore this room safely, you need to scare Hartman away by moving the train forward.

Once you've managed to scare away Hartman again, you'll have to pursue him through the Shifted Passages.

How to move the Train forward to activate the lights in Control

Before entering the Eagle Limited AWE area in the Control AWE DLC, make sure you claim the Control Point and, of course, press the nearby button so you can actually enter the new location.

The large room will be filled with darkness, so you'll want to sprint to the small patch of light on the left-hand side of the room.

Before you press the button you find there, be aware that doing so will not only summon a number of Hiss enemies, but will also turn off the lights in your current location, making you defenceless against Hartman. If you want to survive, you need to levitate straight away and use evade to dash quickly to the next location.

Stay in the air!

This location is on the opposite side of the room and atop a small structure. Hopefully you should be able to see it spotlighted when the lights turn on, but, again, don't dally on your journey towards it.

When you reach the platform, dispatch the Hiss waiting for and then wait for the train to finish moving into position, so that you can activate the next button.

Again, pressing this button will turn off the lights in your current location, but will turn them in front of a lab on the opposite side of the room. Quickly flying across, so you don't attract Hartman, and kill the Hiss enemies waiting for you.

Depending on how quickly you accomplish this, you may have to wait for the train to finish moving before you can press the next button.

When you can press the third button, repeat what you've done previously - fly up to the location on your left, kill the Hiss and wait for the train to get into position.

After watching the train being slowly lowered into position, you'll be able to flip the switch on it's left-hand side to re-activate the lights, scaring Hartman away. Doing this will also automatically start the side mission, Dead In Its Tracks.

Before you continue pursuing Hartman, it's worth investigating the Eagle Limited AWE for a couple of chests and a collectible.

Collectable to be found:

  • Case Files - Altered World Events - Eagle Limited Supplement
    • (Found in the upper office, accessed by an elevator, in the Eagle Limited AWE area.)

Pursue Hartman through the Shifted Passages in Control explained

When you're ready to continue pursuing Hartman, head through the corridor he created, which, when you stand on the platform facing the front of the train, will be to your left.

This will take you to the Shifted Passages which contains one of our good old friends - the Astral Spike. Quickly levitate and dash to your left to avoid the spike.

Go through the office space you find yourself and continue down the corridor. Though, you may want to investigate the painting directly opposite the office space or, say, toss some rubble through it...

After you navigate your way through the Shifted Passages, you'll eventually reach a Control Point to claim. Now all you have to do is go through the doors to the AWE Transit Bay to confront Hartman once again.

Collectables to be found:

  • Research & Records - Reports - Shaded Specimen Captured
    • (Within the first office space in the Shifted Passages.)
  • Research & Records - Reports - Employee Misdemeanour
    • (Within the hidden location opposite the first office space in the Shifted Passages.)
  • Correspondence - Non-Official - Motel Complaint
    • (In the second office space in the Shifted Passages.)

Your final task in the Eagle Limited AWE will be activating the lights in the AWE Transit Bay. Once you've completed this challenge you'll either have to visit the Fra Mauro AWE area or the Bright Falls AWE area depending on where you are in The Third Mission.
