Bayonetta tops busy Japanese chart

How sabbath that?

Bayonetta has stormed Japan and taken top chart honours on PS3 and seventh place on Xbox 360.

It's been no picnic. The SEGA and PlatinumGames creation had to fend off hot competition from Final Fantasy Gaiden: Four Warriors of Light (DS), Tekken 6 (PS3) and Persona 3 Portable (PSP) in second, third and fourth.

The arrival of strong titles on Sony platforms helped the PS3 and PSP overturn the Wii and DS in Japan. Sony's duo combined to sell 100,081 units (64,020 on PSP, 36,061 on PS3), while Nintendo's pair shifted 73,307 units (44,419 on DS, 28,888 on Wii).

Previously dominant champion Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver was unseated, then, and pushed to fifth ahead of Wii Fit Plus in sixth, Tomodachi Collection in eight and Inazuma Eleven 2 in ninth.

New Wii entry Super Robot Taisen NEO rounded the top flight off in 10th. Tekken 6 (360) just missed out in 11th, as did GTA: Chinatown Wars (DS) in 16th.
