How voting the next Ealdorman of Lincolnscire during Where the Stone Falls in Assassin's Creed Valhalla works

Eivor must choose the next Ealdorman of Lincolnscire in Chapter 4 of The Lay of Hunwald, mission Where the Stone Falls.

A young nobleman named Hunwald comes to Ravensthorpe seeking Eivor's help. His ailing father, Hundbeorht, is being manipulated and has exiled his son from Lincolnscire. Hunwald needs help in getting back to his father in Lincoln (A Noble Escort).

After arriving at Lincoln, Hunwald learns that his father has been taken and no one knows where (Homecoming). Bishop Herefrith and Sister Acha are unhelpful in providing a possible location, so Eivor must investigate the disappearance alone (In the Absence of an Ealdorman).

Eivor's search leads to the city sewers where clues indicate that the Ealdorman left for Bolingbroc Castle. At Bolingbroc Castle, Eivor makes a grim discovery - the Ealdorman is dead.

Arriving back at Lincoln, Eivor tells Hunwald the news. Since the title of Ealdorman isn't hereditary, there must be a Shiremoot, or a meeting of the local lords.

In order to prepare for this, Eivor must meet with Aelfgar, a local thegn (The Thegn of Lincoln) and with a grieving Hunwald (Salve for a Fresh Wound). After meeting with Hunwald, the Shiremoot will start.

Vote for Hunwald, Aelfgar or Herefrith decision in Assassin's Creed Valhalla explained

There are three men for consideration for the Ealdorman seat: Aelfgard, Hunwald, and Bishop Herefrith.

Eivor must make a choice:

  • Considering Aelfgar...
  • Considering Hunwald...
  • Considering Herefrith...

How does voting for Hunwald, Aelfgar or Herefrith affect Assassin's Creed Valhalla?

You can choose either Aelfgar or Hunwald and the alliance with the Raven Clan will remain intact.

Choosing Aelfgar results in Hunwald and his Dane lover, Swanburrow, going with you to Ravensthorpe.

Choosing Bishop Herefith ends the story arc, however, he is also a member of the Order of the Ancients. This means that, if you do choose Herefrith, you'll have to assassinate him later on in the story.

If you choose Aelfgard or Hunwald, however, Herefrith attempts to kill all the nobles at the Shiremoot and you have to assassinate him in his castle in Anecastre (A Sword-Shower in Anecastre).
