Two new Onimusha titles unveiled

Let me guess - Onimusha Gun Survivor?

Capcom has announced two new Onimusha titles, with a spangly, all-singing, all-dancing website packed with movies and info to celebrate the fact. The "sound off" button will be in the bottom left area of the screen.

Fans of Onimusha will be pleased to hear of the return of Samanosuke, who is joined by Jean Reno (seriously). The Leon actor has had his likeness captured for the role of Jacque Bran, a French soldier fighting against the Genma in present day France, while Samanosuke takes them on in his native time and place. Although their two paths intersect, it's not clear how or to what end, or whether we'll see a Resident Evil Zero-style one-man co-op show. But whatever happens, having Jean Reno in your game is unfathomably cool.

Equally cool is the use of 3D backgrounds instead of pre-rendered, occasionally animated backdrops as in Onimusha 1 and 2, and Resident Evil. Gaming Age reports that this is the plan, and that Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen will be action director for the game's opening movie - historically one of the finest parts of the game.

But Capcom hasn't stopped there. The official site also carries news of a new multi-player beat 'em up-style title, Onimusha Buraiden, which features Samanosuke, Yagyu Jubei, Oyu and Genma characters. It sounds interesting, and it certainly looks very good.

Check out Capcom's official site for more on both games, including a movie of Onimusha 3 and screenshots of Buraiden, and don't be shy, there's an English language option right there at the start. As soon as we know anything about platforms and release dates, we'll let you know.
