MotoGP 2: Live again

Eight modes, 16 riders, same delightful gameplay

Climax hit us for six with their surprisingly excellent MotoGP - our second favourite Xbox racer behind Project Gotham Racing, and about the only game which escaped our Top 50 due to stupidity - and plan to do it all again this year with an updated MotoGP 2.

The main change will be all the real 2002 MotoGP stats, riders and so on (your own custom bikes and riders notwithstanding), racing on 16 real world tracks in a variety of game modes - including the series' second foray into the world of Xbox Live.

The eight game mode total is perhaps a bit unsurprising when you realise that this comprises GP, Time Trial, Training, Tag, Stunt, Live, multi-player and single race - none of which leaves much to the imagination - but it's a varied pack and as it suggests, there will indeed be a four-player split-screen option for those without access to Live.

However, if you can make it onto the track into MS' online service, you'll doubtless be treated, yet again, to one of the finest bike simulations we've played, with all the tweaks and improvements a year's worth of development time can introduce.

And rest assured, if it's anything like its predecessor, this one will definitely be in our second annual Top 50. Click here for early Xbox shots, with a matching PC gallery here.
