Commonwealth Xbox Games

Don't Blinx or you'll miss it

Microsoft are always going on about how the struggle for domination of the multi-billion dollar console gaming industry is a marathon and not a sprint, and now they're getting to do both. Yes, the latest publisher to enter the hundred meters hurdles will be sponsoring the Commonwealth Games, taking place in Manchester at the end of July. Some eighty Xboxes will be dotted around the city, appearing in Sportscity, the press center, hospitality areas and the athletes' village, giving everyone from journos and contestants to members of the public a chance to sample top games such as Rallisport Challenge, Project Gotham Racing and Dead Or Alive 3. The Commonwealth Games will also offer gamers on this side of the pond their first chance to get their hands on a preview version of Blinx : The Time Sweeper. For those of you not keeping track, Blinx is a freaky looking Japanese game about a cat fixing glitches in the time-space continuum (we told you it was weird). Due for release this Christmas, it's been building quite a buzz since its showing at E3 a couple of months back. If you're going to be somewhere in the vicinity of Manchester between July 25th and August 4th and you want to find out what all the fuss is about, make sure to drop by and have a go.
