German publisher completes hat trick of World War games

World War III is about to be released, World War II is under construction at Zuxxez, and now another German publisher, Fishtank Interactive, have announced that they will be releasing a World War I strategy game next summer. Titled 1914 : The Great War, this one is a turn-based affair rather than real-time, and no doubt the extra time you have to make your moves will be helpful when deciding exactly when to send thousands of soldiers over the top to certain death in your latest "big push". Sarcasm aside, the game will follow the career of a First World War officer as he is assigned to various posts along the western front as you try to break the deadlock. The graphics are truly outstanding, and Thomas Kirchenkamp, CEO of Fishtank's parent company Ravensburger Interactive, isn't kidding when he claims that the game will boast "spectacular effects". Apparently we can also look forward to "highly realistic missions that will enrich the strategic genre", and the game certainly has the pedigree thanks to the involvement of Bernhard Ewers, the man behind History Line 1914-18.
