UbiSoft sales up, up and away

More good news for the rapidly expanding French publisher

French publisher UbiSoft has continued the recent run of good news in the gaming industry, announcing that their sales in the three months to June 30th have grown to €60m (over $50m), rising by a staggering 162% compared to the same period last year. This rapid expansion can mostly be put down to the success of just two games - Myst III and Rayman Advance.

Although it has only been released in America so far, the adventure game sequel Myst III made up a significant portion of the company's sales during the period, and provided the first real fruits from last year's take-over of GAME Studios. Other titles in the pipeline as a result of the deal include the eagerly anticipated role-playing game Pool of Radiance. Meanwhile UbiSoft's home-grown mascot Rayman also proved popular, cleaning up on the GameBoy Advance's launch in both Europe and America, and accounting for as much as 27% of the company's earnings.
