Hail to the king, baby

If you go down to the woods today, you're in for a big surprise...

Before Duke Nukem was even a twinkle in a game developers eye, Bruce Campbell immortalised the phrase "hail to the king" as Ash in the Evil Dead trilogy. It's been a long time coming, but now a computer game based on the cult movies is finally nearing completion, and with the release date set for May more information and screenshots are starting to leak out from publisher THQ.

Evil Dead : Hail To The King is set eight years after Army of Darkness, and sees Ash once again heading back to the cabin in the woods where much of the action in the first two films took place. You would think he might have learnt his lesson by now, but apparently not... Anyhow, it is up to you to control Ash as he battles the deadites brought into our world by the fabled book of the dead, the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. It's all looking a bit Resident Evil, but with the added benefit of that classic Evil Dead sense of humour and voice acting from Bruce himself.

Hopefully we will know before long whether or not it's worked, but in the meantime we have got our hands on some brand new screenshots of the PlayStation version of the game. Apologies for the relatively poor image quality - they were like that when we found them. Honest.
