A coup of Epicurean proportions

Unreal Tournament will be available for the PlayStation 2 from release both in the USA and Europe, despite claims to the contrary from publisher Infogrames towards the end of last month. Infogrames held their "Day at the Races" event for the press on the 22nd and 23rd of August, and used it to announce that Unreal Tournament would not be available on release as had been thought but instead would hit several weeks later. In the intervening period parties from IGN have confirmed with both publisher and developer that UT is definitely now on schedule for the PS2 launch date. Epic's Mark Rein stated that the game would hit on October 26th unless something out of the ordinary happened. Is it any coincidence that this announcement comes barely days after ECTS where the Dreamcast version of Half-Life reduced hordes of cynical journalists into quivering heaps once again? Maybe, maybe not. Both titles would have been released mid-November Stateside by the previous information, but now it seems safe to say that UT will get in there first.
