CPL-Europe cancels events

has cancelled its planned Scandinavian and French Open events, and has announced that they will instead be running an event in Copenhagen, Denmark from October 26 to 29th. The Danish event will feature a $25,000 Quake 3 tournament, a $10,000 Counter-Strike tournament, and room for up to 1000 players to attend the LAN party.

The Scandinavian Open was due to take place in early August, but by the time it was cancelled less than 70 of the 300 places available at the event had been filled. What happens to those people who had already paid for registration, and in some cases flights and accommodation, for the cancelled Stockholm event remains to be seen. Expect more fall-out from this announcement over the coming days.
