has been announced, a set of standards that promises to offer LAN-quality play over the internet. Whether it will deliver is another matter entirely, and we'll have to wait until the trial starts at an ISP in the USA within the next few months to find out...

John Carmack of id Software made a post to the forums on Slashdot talking about PowerPlay, and why id isn't one of the companies backing it.
