The A500 Mini: Where to pre-order the new Amiga retro console

Release date, price, games and features.

Announced earlier this month, the Commodore Amiga 500 is getting a mini version packed with 25 classic games. It's the latest mini retro console to join the line-up of revived classic systems.

Much like the C64 Mini, the unit is being published by Retro Games Ltd and distributed by Koch Media. The compact reimagining of the personal computer is set to be released in early 2022 in the UK, EU and US. It's already available to pre-order from various online retailers in the UK and Ireland.

Here we dive into all you need to know about the Amiga 500 Mini release date, price, games, features and where to pre-order at the cheapest price.

How much is the A500 Mini and when does it come out?

The Amiga 500 Mini will be priced around £119.99, €129.99 or $139.99 and is due out in the UK, EU and US on 31st March 2022, the 35th anniversary of the home computer's launch.

Where can I pre-order the A500 Mini?

Retro Games Ltd is working with Koch Media to distribute the mini retro console and it is currently available to pre-order at Amazon, Base, 365 Games, The Game Collection and Game in the UK. The cheapest place to currently pre-order the console in the UK is from Base for £114.85.

GameStop Ireland is also taking pre-orders. There doesn't appear to be much info about where you can buy the A500 Mini in the US at the moment. However we will of course, update this page when more information becomes available.

If you can't wait until the A500 Mini's release next year, Secret Mode and Sumo Digital's remastering of Zool (Zool Redimensioned) might be worth checking out in the meanwhile.

What features are included in THEA500 Mini?

Inspired by the 16-bit Commodore personal computer, THEA500 Mini console features emulation of the original A500 (OCS) chipset and the Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA) of the A1200. That means it can run accurately run games from the Amigas 500, 600 and 1200 era. The retro-styled unit will also have the ability to side-load your own games via USB with WHDLoad support.

It sports the typical features you'd find in most mini consoles these days, including a save and resume functionality, 50Hz and 60Hz screen refresh options in 720p HD, a CRT filter and a number of scaling options.

The A500 Mini comes with both the classic 2-button mouse and a new 8-button precision gamepad. And since the keyboard on the Amiga 500 Mini is tiny and unusable, you can plug in a standard USB PC keyboard for alternative functionality.
