Activision leaves PC Gaming Alliance
Couldn't justify the budget.
Kotaku has confirmed that Activision Blizzard has left the PC Gaming Alliance.
After Activision's logo disappeared from the site, the PCGA told Kotaku that "a few members have decided they cannot justify the budget (membership and staff) required to maintain an active role in the PC Gaming Alliance at this time".
The PCGA was formed last year to give a unified voice to a gaming platform that has traditionally lacked one, and so has struggled to compete with the promotional muscle of console manufacturers in recent years.
However, the loudest voice in support of the PC since then has been Valve's, speaking entirely independently.
Activision leaves behind other members including Microsoft, hardware manufactures like Intel and Dell, developers and publishers like Epic and Capcom, and retailer GameStop. But the loss of the world's biggest publisher - and, notably, the publisher of the most successful PC game of recent years, World of Warcraft - will be a blow to the Alliance.
