50 Cent sequel details emerge

"Not going to be anything like the first".

Producer Aaron Blean has said that 50 Cent sequel Blood on the Sand is much more focused on quality.

"We're not just throwing together another game. We took the time; we invested in some really good tech, some really good writers and we created some really compelling gameplay that will definitely deliver the ultimate 50 Cent experience," Blean told IGN.

"We want to get the word out there that, not only does this game exist, but it's a game that you should pay attention to. It's not going to be anything like the first game."

The story takes place in a fictitious Middle Eastern country where 50 Cent and G-Unit are doing a gig. But the promoter runs out of money, so he has to give them a diamond-encrusted skull as payment.

However, this is stolen from the rappers as they are ambushed trying to leave the country. Without further ado, out come the guns and off they go in search of revenge and to find out who these ambushers are and what they want.

"It's a crime story, but it's got a bit of humour sprinkled into it," explained Blean. "We focused a little more on the story."

Blood on the Sand is built on the Unreal Engine 3 and is apparently very similar to Gears of War in its approach, with cover to hide behind and shoot from as well as jump-in co-operative play.

It will have driving chase sections too, apparently, and you'll be able to hijack a helicopter and using its turret to shower bullets on baddies.

50 Cent and G-Unit will be recording exclusive music for the game to entice fans, and Blean revealed that he was working on securing "high-profile" actors for the game in addition to "one of the biggest hip-hop producers in the world" to write the music.

And, Blean assures us, 50 Cent is actively and heavily involved in development.

"He comes by the office and not only does he review the game, he's very particular about how the game should look and how the game should play. So he's been heavily involved in this second iteration," continued Blean.

The first game, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, has apparently clocked up an impressive 2.5 million sales since release in late 2005.
