3D-effect DSi game set for US release

Looksley's Line Up due out next month.

Remember the video of a 3D-effect DSiWare title which appeared last month? Turns out the game is set to make it outside of Japan after all.

It's called Hidden 3D Pictures over there but will be renamed Looksley's Line Up when it's released in the US on 17th May.

You play as Looksley the rabbit, who is on the hunt for inspiring objects to help him finish the story he's writing. "The objects are hidden in 3-D dioramas made up of cutout layers that shift as you move the DSi," reads Nintendo's description. "Unique camera-based controls let you peer deep into the game's scenes and hunt for hidden objects just by moving the Nintendo DSi."

Or, as Digital Foundry put it, "The DSi camera is used to track movement, which is then translated into a real-time perspective-shift in gameplay."

Sounds like it could be an interesting taster of what's to come when the 3DS handheld is released some time in the next year. There's no word on whether Looksley's Line Up is also scheduled for a European release, but we'll keep you posted.
