Microsoft's new Xbox controller is a lovely Mario red

Project Scarlett.

There's a brand new Xbox Series X/S controller on the horizon, coloured a familiar shade of video gaming red.

Microsoft announced the Pulse Red pad this afternoon, and it is due to go on sale "in most Xbox markets" on 9th February, priced at the standard £54.99/$64.99 RRP.

While there are numerous colours of controller for the previous Xbox One model (and you can even customise your own), only three are available for the Xbox Series X/S at present: Carbon Black, Robot White, and Shock Blue.

This fresh design brings with it a new lick of paint and... well, that's it. Otherwise, it's the standard Xbox Series X/S controller underneath.
