Fall Guys is now the most downloaded PlayStation Plus game ever

UPDATE: 7m copies now sold on Steam.

UPDATE 4.30pm UK: Not content with one impressive sales stat today, Fall Guys has now passed 7m copies sold on Steam:

ORIGINAL STORY 2.30pm UK: Colourful bean battle royale Fall Guys is doing very well, but you probably knew that already.

Today, PlayStation trumpeted the news Fall Guys is now the most-downloaded PlayStation Plus game of all time, on a global basis.

That is some feat, considering the service has been handing out "free" games now for the better part of a decade, and that its offerings have previously included Grand Theft Auto-sized blockbuster fare.

Fall Guys is also available on Steam, where it shifted 2m copies in a week, and has become a hit on streaming platforms too. The game has already seen various tie-ins, such as with Portal 2 and Team Fortress 2, and has a mobile version on the way in China.

Earlier today, developer Mediatonic discussed how it was starting to tackle cheaters.
