Shadow Warrior 3 announced for 2021 release

Gameplay due in this week's Devolver Direct.

Devolver Digital has announced Shadow Warrior 3, a sixth game in the long-running ninja shooter series.

This is the third entry to be developed by Polish studio Flying Wild Hog, which rebooted the franchise after an earlier three entries by 3D Realms.

Eurogamer deemed the Shadow Warrior reboot "a smarter-than-it-looks nostalgia trip" back in 2014, and its 2016 sequel "a riotous blast, though it can't quite live up to its predecessor". Four years later, here we are - though you'll need to wait until 2021 for Shadow Warrior 3's release.

Expect to see Shadow Warrior 3 gameplay during this Saturday's Devolver Direct event, which is absolutely not inspired by anything to do with Nintendo.
