Nidorino, a poison pin Pokémon, can be fought in raid battles in Pokémon Go and, if you're lucky, you might even encounter a shiny version of this Pokémon.

A member of the original 151 Pokémon, every Nidorino is male and has the ability to evolve into Nidoking.

Nidorino counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go

If you're planning on battling a Nidorino in a raid, then it's a good idea to know their counters and weaknesses:

  • Nidorino type: Poison-type
  • Nidorino is weak against: Ground and psychic-type
  • Nidorino counters: Alakazam, Golem, Mewtwo, Espeon, Donphan, Metagross, Latios, Goudon, Garchomp, Rhyperior and Excadrill
  • Other Nidorino notes: Nidorino is not a tough foe to defeat, just ensure that you have a strong team of ground and psychic-type Pokemon and you'll easily defeat it.

Nidorino has the ability to learn and use a collection of fast and charged moves in Pokémon Go, these include:

  • Dig (Ground)
  • Horn Attack (Normal)
  • Sludge Bomb (Poison)

Gengar and Nidorino are often depicted fighting each other

Nidorino appears to be inspired by a combination of different animals. It's horn and the inclusion of 'rino' in its name, demonstrates that rhinoceroses definitely inspired part of its design.

Yet, the large ears and spikes also suggest that Nidorino's design was influenced by both porcupines and rabbits as well.

What we do know, however, is that Nidorino's design originates from Capsule Monsters, which was the precursor to the Pokémon franchise. It shares this origin with Gengar, which is why the pair are seen fighting at the beginning of the Pokémon anime and in the openings for certain games, including Pokémon Red and Green.

Nidorino is also the Pokémon shown to you in the introductory cutscene for Pokémon Red and Blue. The cry it makes, however, is that of a Nidorina!
