Strictly Come Dancing did Pokémon

Popplio culture.

It was Movies Week on Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend, and one couple danced to the Pokémon theme.

Paralympian Will Bayley and partner Janette Manrara adopted the roles of Ash and Pikachu in a Paso Doble.

The fast-paced Paso Doble is a Spanish dance, known for its sharp steps akin to military marching. One version has the male dancer portraying a bull fighter, while the female portrays his cape.

It was this version which was mashed up with Pokémon - with Bayley as an Ash matador and Manrara as Pikachu in a dress. Presumably, Ash was attempting to distract his unseen opponent with Pikachu's moves?

It didn't really work, but most of the judges were nice.

"I loved the build up in the middle," Motsi Mabuse said. "I felt your bodies building up and then you released the power."

Bruno Tonioli said it needed more "artistry". The four judges awarded fives and sixes.
