Reduced games round-up: Gears of War 4, Injustice 2, Last Guardian, Forza 4 and more

A swarm of deals for Xbox and PS4.

Despite first appearances, there's many a bargain to be had in this round of January sales on the games front, ranging from ultra-violent shooters to more soothing titles involving gigantic pets and Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles. Let's take a look at the best games deals of today so far.

The only game featuring a gun you can hack down trees with, super violent cover-and-run shooter Gears of War 4 has been reduced to £19.99 at Argos - a steep decrease from its usual £35+ new asking price.

It boasts all the trimmings associated with the series, like giant mutant centipedes and the simple joy of sawing otherworldly horrors in half. Gears of Wars 4 also adds killer robots, a leading female character and an array of new game modes and super-weapons. Drawing a lot from the 2006 original, this instalment is perfect for newcomers and long-time fans alike.

While we're on the violent hi-jinx front, "vehicular combat game" Carmageddon: Max Damage - where your odds of winning improve with each pedestrian mowed down - is down to only £4.95 on Xbox One at The Game Collection.

If you're looking for a more traditional racing title with markedly less bloodshed, Forza Horizon 4 on the Xbox One has been reduced to £20.99 at eBay, brand new.

Meanwhile, mournful puzzler The Last Guardian is only £13.95 on PlayStation 4 at Base. Roam a melancholy, beautiful world solving puzzles with a huge beast that's made up of Baba Yaga feet and an adorable dog-face, among other things. Not only does the title bear the Eurogamer seal of approval, it also features one of the most curious "pet" AIs we've ever seen in a game.

Hack 'n slash your way to victory with iconic dungeon crawler Diablo 3: The Eternal Collection - which features a bonus playable sadistic necromancer, among the usual barbarians, monks and rogues. It's down to £22.79 at Base on PlayStation 4 and £22.99 on Xbox One at Zavvi.

Capes at the ready, folks: Injustice 2's Legendary Edition is out tomorrow and reduced to £19.99 on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One over at Argos. A beat-'em-up with characters from the DC universe ranging from Batman to Shazam, its extended playable fighters include the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellboy, and Enchantress, plus Sub-Zero and Raiden from the Mortal Kombat series.

Deals for the Deal God, Blood for the Blood God: Grim Action-RPG Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is 25 per cent off and down to £23.99 at Argos on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Last but by no means least, we have the Final Fantsy X/X-2 HD remaster on PlayStation 4 at Go2Games for £12.99. Featuring blitzball, gigantic monsters from the deep and some expertly coiffed hair, it's a good one if you're feeling a little nostalgic.

Be sure you have enough space for all those games with our guides to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 extenal hard drives, and happy deal hunting!
