The next Fallout 76 patch is here - and boy is it chunky one. Patch 126.96.36.199 takes aim at many of the game's most unpopular bugs, with over 150 changes being made to the game.
Remember when PC players complained bugs were preventing them from even playing the game? Worry no more, as the infinite load screen crash bug has been zapped, meaning you can play Fallout 76 to your heart's content. Hooray.
Meanwhile, if you've been on the Fallout subreddit in the past few days, you'll have spotted a great deal of angst regarding duplication glitches in the game. If the name hadn't already given it away, this meant players could create copies of items - thereby causing problems with the in-game economy and allowing people to sell dozens of legendary weapons for real-life cash on eBay.
It remains to be seen whether this is the final nail in the coffin for duplication glitches, however, as players previously managed to discover alternative methods when Bethesda has patched up past bugs.
Interestingly, Bethesda seems to have finally made it possible to mute other players by blocking them. Previous to this update, blocked players could still talk to you via mic as part of the game's proximity chat. It's somewhat surprising this wasn't already a feature - and in the aftermath of the infamous homophobic attack on a player last year, it was probably sorely needed.
Another change of note is that bobby pins - which previously weighed as much as ammo - have had their weight reduced from 0.1 to 0.001. With carry weight at such a premium in Fallout 76, this is a welcome change. I can't wait to fill the void with more crafting rubbish.
Somewhat amusingly, the patch also fixes a bug the game inherited from a previous Fallout title. The lever-action rifle animation glitch, which was present from Fallout 4, now displays the correct amount of ammo when reloading the gun.
