Pokémon Let's Go Victory Road and how to find Moltres - available Pokémon, items and trainers

Our complete Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide to your big adventure with Pikachu or Eevee.

Victory Road and, inside, figuring out how to find Moltres are your next objectives, and follow on from Route 23 as the final challenge before the Elite Four in your quest through Pokémon Let's Go's main story.

Below, we'll cover any and all of the obtainable Pokémon, item locations, trainers and their squads that you might encounter in the area, as well as walking you through any key steps of the story along the way.

We've also opted to break out walkthrough pages down into sections, referring to each of your visits to a given location, seeing as you often backtrack or revisit various places in your quest to become Champion! Where applicable, we'll split our page into one section for each visit, and of course if there are any, clearly mark any spoilers, too!

For more like this, be it specific systems explainers or walkthrough pages on more locations, head back to our main Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide hub.

Pokémon Let's Go: Victory Road explained - the fastest way through Victory Road

Victory Road is the last obstacle in your path to the Pokémon League up at Indigo Plateau, but while it has some new types of puzzle to solve and some very rare Pokémon to catch, it's thankfully not the hardest dungeon you'll have come across.

As with previous dungeon pages in this walkthrough, we'll split this page into sections, with this section covering the fastest way through it step-by-step, plus one for each floor of Victory Road - there are just the three, which is nice - as well as one further below on finding and catching the legendary Fire- and Flying-type bird, Moltres.

The main new puzzle type to be aware of, by the way, is a new kind of rock-pushing puzzle. Instead of just pushing those stones out of the way like you did in Seafoam Islands, you'll sometimes need to push them onto specific pressure pads. When you do, it'll lower a nearby stone wall blocking your path, allowing you to proceed. There are only a couple though, and they're nothing too tricky!

The fastest way through Victory Road in Pokémon Let's Go

  1. Enter and head right, and push the stone onto the pressure pad, lowering the central wall on the raised area.
  2. From the raised area, head up to the top left to the only ladder on this floor, 1F-A.
  3. On 2F, go downwards and push the rock onto the pressure pad there to lower another wall on this floor's central raised area.
  4. Then head all the way over to the right, around, and up to the only ladder you can reach on this floor, 2F-B, by Tamer Vincent.
  5. Here on 3F, go up and along the top of the area to the top left, heal up with the Police Officer, and push that stone rock into the pressure pad on the far left.
  6. You have a choice - go down the ladder here in the top left, 3F-B, to the area where you'll find Moltres, or continue on. To continue on, go back to where you first came up to 3F and instead go left along the rased area, over the now-lowered wall, to the bottom left of the room and all the way along to the bottom right.
  7. In the bottom right of 3F, push the stone into the nearby hole, and drop down after it.
  8. Now you're on 2F again. Push the stone you just dropped down here all the way to the left (directly left - do not push it up or downwards), into the pressure pad on the far left of this area.
  9. That lowers the nearby wall where you dropped down here, by Poké Maniac Dawson. Take the ladder by him, 2F-D, back up to 3F.
  10. Go upwards to the other ladder in this area next to the Coach Trainer, 3F-D, which takes you back down to the walled-off right end of 2F.
  11. Go to your right from there, and you're at the exit!

Read on below for the available Pokémon, items and trainers on each floor, as well as all ladders listed and mapped, so you always know where you're going! A final quick note: if you ever gut stuck by putting a boulder in the wrong place, simply leave the cave and re-enter it to re-set the stone. This only works for some of them, though!

Pokémon Let's Go: Entrance level 1F - ladders, available Pokémon, items and trainers

At the top of 1F you'll notice two items behind a pushable rock, but however you push the rock you'll only be able to reach one of them or the other. To get both, push the rock one way to get one, then exit the cave and come back and it will have reset, so you can push it the other way and get the other.

Otherwise, there's just the one ladder here, in the top left, to 2F.

Pokémon Let's Go: Second level 2F - ladders, available Pokémon, items and trainers

2F of Victory Road has the most ladder of any level, and several areas only accessible via ladder from other floors, too.

It's also the floor that houses Moltres, in the walled-off area in the top left, accessible from 3F.

The other thing to note is the wall puzzles here, of which there are two. The first is relatively simple, and is found in the bottom left corner soon after you arrive on 2F from 1F. Push the stone left once, then down once, then left twice onto the pressure pad.

The second one, that's blocking off the Poké Maniac and the ladder on the square platform in the bottom right, can only be lowered by first dropping a stone from 3F down the hole to this floor.

When you've done that up on 3F, drop into the same hole you pushed that stone into to drop back down here to 2F, and push it all the way to the left, into the socket. Be sure to push it straight left, and not up or down at all! (Note that images for this are up in the top step-by-step section if you need them).

Pokémon Let's Go: Third level 3F - ladders, available Pokémon, items and trainers

On 3F, it's worth noting that the Police Officer in the top left of the area will heal your Pokémon for free, which is very handy.

To solve the push puzzle in top left by Officer Jenny: push it up once, then left once, then down once, then you can push it left and down into the hole easily. This lowers the centre-left wall on the raised area here on 3F, allowing you to proceed across to the left and down to the bottom half of the room.

In the bottom right of that lower half of the room, push the rock into the hole and drop down after it, as described in the section above, so you can push it onto the pressure pad back on 2F and clear a path to the ladders towards exit.

Pokémon Let's Go: how to find Moltres in Victory Road

Like Articuno at Seafoam Islands, finding and catching Moltres requires you to take a detour from the main path to the exit.

Unlike Seafoam Islands however, this detour is nice and simple. Just head up to the top left of 3F (see our step-by-step instructions at the top of this page for the specifics) where you find the Police Officer that heals your team. Heal up, then drop down the ladder in the top left there to the walled-off section in the top-left of 2F.

Head to the right and Moltres is just up ahead. Once again you'll need to battle and defeat it before catching, and once again it's a fairly tricky one to catch!

With Moltres caught, follow our instructions above to get to the exit, and once you've gathered any items, Pokémon, or trainer battle victories that you fancy along the way, you're all done.

Outside, your next stop is the big one: the Elite Four, Indigo Plateau and Pokémon League. It's the final showdown to become Pokémon Champion, so head there for more, or once again cycle back to our main Pokémon Let's Go walkthrough and guide hub for all the other pages we have like this.
