The wonder of a new Monster Boy game

We get caught in the Dragon's Trap in the latest Eurogamer Podcast.

Monster Boy is back! After the recent Dragon's Trap remake, we've been gifted a spiritual successor to Wonder Boy 3 - which Christian Donlan calls a "vital updating of a classic" in our Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom review.

Christian and I discuss both the excellent Dragon's Trap remake and this new Monster Boy game, attempt to grasp the complex lineage of the series (I don't think we quite solved the Monster Boy or Wonder Boy mystery) and why the original Wonder Boy 3 was such a revelation back on the Sega Master System.

Plus! We also indulge ourselves in a spot of nostalgia for games mags from the early 1990s. You can listen to the episode here:

If you've missed out on recent Eurogamer Podcast episodes, we've covered Fallout 76, Pokémon Go and Let's Go, Red Dead Redemption 2, Black Ops 4, Life is Strange 2 and the Shenmue remaster.

A quick heads up - we won't be back with our next episode in a fortnight, instead delaying things slightly for a Game of the Year special at the end of December. See you then!
