Red Dead Online leak details previously-rumoured battle royale mode

Make it count.

Red Dead Redemption 2's online portion begins rolling out today, and now a leaked list of modes has detailed its battle royale-style option.

Make It Count is a 32-player Red Dead Online mode where you fight to be the last one standing. You have limited weapons and are stuck within a shrinking gameplay circle. Sound familiar?

It is the most interesting of a short list of mode options unearthed by Twitter user illogicalmods, who also dug up a series of campaign-style job missions as well. Most of these deal with a new character, Horley, and see you venturing into familiar locales from Red Dead Redemption 1 such as Tumbleweed and Armadillo.

Rockstar has labelled the launch of Red Dead Online as a beta, because it is not finished. It remains to be seen whether the mode's player count may rise further.

It's not the first time a battle royale mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been sighted. Earlier this year, a major leak posted by Trusted Reviews tipped battle royale as being included - the same leak which Rockstar threatened legal action over, forcing the site to pull its article and direct a £1m settlement to charity.

Red Dead Redemption 2 follows in the footsteps of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 as being the latest big budget game to include a battle royale mode, in the wake of Fortnite and PUBG's popularity. Battlefield 5 launches its battle royale mode next year.

Red Dead Online's multiplayer mode kicks off at 1.30pm UK time today - Tuesday, 27th November - for all buyers of the game's Ultimate Edition.

On Wednesday, 28th November, all those who played the game on its launch day (26th October) can join the beta.

Thursday, 29th November, the beta opens up to anyone who played during the launch weekend (26th to 29th October).

And finally, on Friday, 30th November, any Red Dead Redemption 2 player can join the beta.
