Dark Souls - Bed of Chaos boss strategy

How to tackle Bed of Chaos in Dark Souls.

Bed of Chaos is a boss fight after exploring Lost Izalith in Dark Souls.

If you're looking for more help, our Dark Souls walkthrough and guide can help with all other areas of the game, including the dreadedTaurus Demon, Capra Demon, Ornstein and Smough bosses.

Bed of Chaos boss strategy

The Bed of Chaos fight is a little bit different to any of the other Boss Fights you will encounter in Dark Souls, it can be incredibly frustrating, even if you're very skilled at the game due to its attack patterns and the way it breaks the floor beneath you.

Before we do anything else, ensure that you have a high stability shield such as Havel's. Equipping high poise armour will also do wonders during this fight, as you do not want to be knocked down into a hole by The Bed of Chaos' arms.

First of all, you want to run to the left orb and attack, this is the path of least resistance when opening up the fight with this irritating boss battle. Destroy the orb there, then attack and destroy the branch. Then, you will need to make your way to the second orb, be careful of this boss' sweeping attacks, which can leave you dropping down to your doom.

Once at the midpoint, ensure you have your high poise armour and high stability shield and slowly walk towards the boss, this will ensure that you can react and also have a clear path to the second branch. This also makes The Bed of Chaos not do its sweeping attack, just be slow and patient. Once at the branch, destroy it and once more brace for a somehow even more frustrating phase of this boss fight, where we are actually going to attempt to kill it.

Here, you will need to ensure that you make your way and drop down onto a branch to reach the central bit of The Bed of Chaos. It is incredibly frustrating to do this, as the boss will continually try to catch you and knock you down to your death. However, there is another strategy here which you can employ to make this fight a whole lot easier than you think.

After each "phase" of destroying the branch, you should be able to quit the game and reload inside the boss door, having completed that phase.

Remember, this doesn't count if you die, so you can get a fresh start and slide down after you have completed every phase of this fight, it actually makes it a lot safer and easier to complete. With that in mind, try this option if the fight is proving to be too hard or frustrating to do in one go.

The final phase in very very frustrating, and all we can really recommend here is to block with a high stability shield to not be completely knocked off of the platform. You need to fall straight onto the branch, then you should be in the clear- it really is that simple, yet frustrating.

Once on the branch, proceed to the heart of the boss and attack it with everything you have to end this waking nightmare of a boss battle. This will give you another one of the Lord Souls, and also a bonfire so you can warp the heck out and head back to Firelink Shrine.
