Bungie says Destiny 2's most ridiculed weapon is bugged

Edge case.

If you're playing Destiny 2 right now, you probably have Edge Transit. In fact, you've probably had quite a few Edge Transits. It looks like this:

Ever since expansion Forsaken launched, players have reported finding the largely useless legendary class grenade launcher quite a lot. Not just quite a lot - pretty much all of the time.

Edge Transit drops so often, it's become a meme.

Over on r/DestinyTheGame, players have had fun mocking Edge Transit, with one player suggesting Bungie should change its reload animation so that it involves throwing the empty weapon aside and pulling a fresh, fully loaded one off their back.

Beneath the mockery is the suggestion Bungie failed to add enough new weapons to the power category loot pool for Forsaken, which might have explained why it's turning up more often that it feels it should.

But in its weekly update, Bungie said Edge Transit was bugged.

"Since the launch of Destiny 2: Forsaken, we have heard player feedback regarding the aggressive drop rates of the Edge Transit grenade launcher," Bungie said.

"Our investigation has confirmed that this weapon is dropping more frequently than intended, and we are pursuing a fix for a future update."

So, Edge Transit isn't working properly, according to Bungie's post, rather than it dropping a lot because, well, there's not much else to drop in the power category. And expect that to change, too, in some future update.

Will Bungie acknowledge the funny side of the Edge Transit issue? A new reload animation feels unlikely, but the studio has been known to drop references to Destiny memes in-game before (loot cave, anyone?).
