Surgeon Simulator transfers to Nintendo Switch with co-op play

UPDATE: Out next week.

UPDATE 6/9/18: Bossa Studios has announced that Surgeon Simulator CPR, an enhanced Nintendo Switch version of its popular medical mishap extravaganza, will launch next Thursday, September 13th.

Surgeon Simulator CPR offers the game's usual cack-handed scalpel-wielding thrills, but fancies things up on Switch with motion-controller support and a two-player local co-op mode. It'll cost £9.99 / $12.99 USD, and there's a 10% discount for those that pre-order on the eShop.

To celebrate its launch date news, Bossa has also crafted this delightfully informative thing:

ORIGINAL STORY 25/7/18: Nintendo Switch is getting its own version of Surgeon Simulator with co-op play and motion controls.

Redubbed as Surgeon Simulator CPR ("Co-op Play Ready", developer Bossa Studios says), it is due for launch sometime this autumn.

Bossa not-so-subtly hinted at a Switch version for its game earlier in the month, when it posted a teaser of the game's hand clumsily turning off a light switch. "Let us know when it clicks," the video's description teased.

It was a neat nod to Blizzard's own teaser video for a Diablo night light - which coupled as a tease for a still-unannounced Switch version of Diablo 3.

"Surgeon Simulator knows it's a bad game," Chris Donlan wrote in our review of the PC version, all the way back in 2013. "To be entertainingly terrible is its ultimate objective, but overall it's still capable of providing a real comic tension as a patient's life ebbs away, as their kidneys refuse to come unstuck no matter how hard you yank at them, and as that sodding wristwatch goes tumbling into a vital cavity."
