We are most likely less than a month away from Prime Day 2018 now, so I hope you're gearing up to spend a little bit of cash halfway through July. You can expect everything from Echos (and other Alexa-enabled devices) to see big discounts alongside Kindles and a lot of other tech. If we're lucky, we'll see a decent range of video games with big discounts, too.

The innovatively titled Prime Day 2018 is set to take place this July and for anyone currently wondering what a Prime Day actually is, precisely, here's what you need to know - Prime Day is a now-annual celebration of Amazon's own anniversary. While that's all lovely and such, it's almost most likely a tremendous way to discount a lot of products, clear out some stock and have a one-website mini Black Friday in the middle of the year.

What this means for you, though, is that it's a mid-year chance to get some serious discounts on some key games, consoles and other bits of tech. It's a one-day blowout of bargains, offered exclusively to Amazon Prime members and it can genuinely yield some rather nice deals on games and techy bits, amongst the rabble of USB cables and iPhone cases.

As mentioned in this very article, you'll need an Amazon Prime membership (found here in the UK, or here in the US), though you can start up a free 30-day trial and still take advantage of the Prime Day sales, too.

Right here in this article, I'll be rounding up some of the best Prime Day offers from the realms of games, consoles and tech. As a lot of these will be 'Lightning Deals', keep in mind that not only will they be time-limited (some only last an hour before disappearing for good) but they'll also be stock-limited, meaning Amazon can sell out of the reduced price game before the allotted time is up. In order to make sure you get the thing you want, it's best to keep on your toes and get in as early as you can.

When is Prime Day 2018?

While we don't currently have an official date yet, going by the last few years, Prime Day 2018 is most likely going to take place on or around July 11th, 2018. We've still got a little bit of time to wait before the deals begin in full, so for now, let's look back on some of the best deals found during last year's Prime Day shenanigans.

Day-long deals (everything else)

Lightning Deals

Lightning deals being what they are - time and stock limited - once they go live, they won't last long. I'll be over at Jelly Deals covering them as they go live on Amazon so feel free to pop on over or follow us on Twitter if you want to get involved the minute the deals go live.

Good luck and happy hunting to all. Be sure to check in with Jelly Deals for by-the-minute lightning deals coverage and a few carelessly strewn about puns.
