Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the name of the game's new series entry for Nintendo Switch. It contains fan-favourite request Ridley, from Metroid, for the first time. And it will include support for the fan-favourite GameCube controller.
It will launch on 7th December, several months after Nintendo's online service subscription.
It will return every single character from the series so far, including DLC or one-off appearances. It's an enormous roster - including much-missed faces such as Ice Climbers and Solid Snake.
Numerous improvements and changes to characters have been made - including, thank goodness, Fox's Landmaster final smash being replaced by an Arwing. Pikachu and the Pokémon Trainer now have female versions.
New characters seem thinner on the ground. There's the Inkling Girl and Boy revealed previously, and also Daisy as a clone "Echo Character" of Peach.
Assist Trophies will include Bomberman and even more Pokémon. Waluigi is still an Assist, sadly.
Stages will return throughout the series, including levels like Princess Peach's Castle, last seen in Melee, and 3DS stages such as the train from Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. One new stage is the Great Plateau Tower, themed around Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
