Finding Hidden Gnomes in different Named Locations is one of Fortnite's many Weekly Challenges.

Completing it will give you additional XP to help go towards your many Season 3 rewards. Note you'll need to be a Battle Pass holder in order to undertake this challenge.

If you're just getting started, our Fortnite Battle Royale tips and tricks can provide some helpful hints.

Fortnite Hidden Gnomes and Laughing explained

For the Week 7 Challenges, you are tasked with the following:

  • Search the Hidden Gnome in different Named Locations (7 total, 5 Battle Stars)

Another on the list includes searching for the Retail Row Treasure Map.

Across the map are hidden Gnomes. As mentioned by the Challenge description, these are in Named Locations - with means defined places with names on the map, such as towns and other settlements.

Go to these locations, and you might hear strange laughter. These are coming from the Gnomes, and are designed to help you track them down.

Even with their guidance, they are very well hidden, so knowing the specific locations - which are detailed towards the end of this page - will help.

When you find one, you can interact with it. Doing so will make it disappear, and will be added to your total.

Do this a total of seven times to complete the challenge. If you lose count how many you've done, you must check out your Challenges list back in the lobby.

As with other challenges, you must do these as you play matches (you cannot enter the map without other players), so you'll have to avoid combat encounters as you attempt to find each location.

Note you need to complete the match in order for the challenge to be finished - quitting the match as soon as you collect it won't work. Use the opportunity to travel to another gnome nearby, though landing near each one over the course of seven matches is probably easier.

Fortnite Hidden Gnomes Locations

Though you need to find seven locations, thankfully there are many more across the map, pretty much one at each named location. They can be a little tricky to find, so knowing specific locations will help.

Though not a comprehensive list, here's 14 Gnome locations - double what you need to complete the Challenge, and should suit a variety of landings from wherever the Battlebus is coming in from.

Dusty Depot

At Dusty Depot are three warehouses. Head to the south-most one, and enter from the east. Smash open the long crate on the left, and the Gnome will appear.

Fatal Fields

On the south side of Fatal Fields is a lake. Just to the north are silos and hay bales. Facing north, smash open the bale to the right of the silos to reveal a Gnome.

Flush Factory

Head to the factory's central room, and you'll find a white chamber covered in paint. The Gnome is inside, behind the toilet.

Greasy Grove

Enter the large diner in the west, and find the bathrooms on the west-side of the building. On the left (south-most), search inside the cubicle.

Haunted Hills

Approach from the north, and you'll find a building with set of stairs on the side. The Gnome is in a passage underneath.

Junk Junction

Head to the largest multi-story building in the centre-right of the area. On the top floor, find the mattress in the corner. Break that and the bedside cabinet down and you'll find the Gnome.

Lucky Landing

Go into the ground floor of the north-west building, and find the bathroom. Smash down the bath with your pickaxe, and you'll find the Gnome in the corner.

Loot Lake

Travel to the island in the middle of the lake. Go down below the structure there, and smash away the wooden beam against the cliff. The Gnome is hidden behind it.

Lonely Lodge

On the eastern side of the compound is a lodge, standing alone Head inside and it's by the wall.

Pleasant Park

Head to the north-west of the compound, and enter the house from the ground floor. The Gnome will be behind a container, against the wall.

Retail Row

If you head to the south-east, you'll find an outhouse surrounded by a chain link fence. Get inside the outhouse, and the gnome is behind a pipe.

Salty Springs

There is a multi-story house in the south of the area. Head into the basement, and look under the stairs.

Shifty Shafts

First, find the mine shaft entrance from the east. Follow the track round a left corner, and on the next corner going right, the Gnome will be embedded in a wall. Smash it down with your pickaxe to set the Gnome free.

Tilted Towers

In the south are trucks near an underpass. The Gnome should be next to the south-most truck.

There are more out there, but the above should be more than enough to help you get the seven Gnomes you need to complete the challenge. Best of luck!
