What is Community Day in Pokémon Go?
Community Day takes place on one weekend day every month and lasts a total of three hours.
As well as increasing spawns of the highlighted Pokémon, there are bonuses during that period of time - such as double XP, Stardust or Lure Modules - as additional incentives to get out there and playing, including the highlighted Pokémon having an increased chance of being shiny, and the ability to reach the highlighted Pokémon's evolution an exclusive move.
It's a great way to get resources and a rare version of the highlighted Pokémon, but it's as the name suggests, is a great way to team up with other players.
You may find other Pokémon Go players will be out and about with you, which might make it easier to co-ordinate completing Raids or doing Trades, so keep that in mind during the period.
Pokémon Go's next Community Day: March Community Day date and time explained
Here's everything you need to know about the March Community Day:

Bonus 2: Double catch candy

Bonus 11: PokéStop Showcases for the Litten
Bonus 12: From this Community Day onwards, Incineroar can learn Darkest Lariat, a Dark-type Charged Attack
Exclusive move for evolutions: Blast Burn (Fire-type Charged Attack) for Incineroar
Bonus Raids: From 5pm to 10pm on the Community Day, you'll be able to battle Torracat in four-star raids. If you defeat one of these Pokémon in a four-star raid, then Litten will appear around the Gym which hosted it for 30 minutes and will have the same increased shiny rate as those which appeared during the Community Day.
These raids can not be joined using a Remote Raid Pass.
How useful is this Community Day?
The best thing about Litten's Community Day is, of course, the triple catch XP bonus. It's one of the best bonuses in Pokémon Go and you can further increase the amount of XP you'll recieve by using a Lucky Egg. If you managed to catch an Origin Forme Dialga during Go Tour: Sinnoh, you can also use the Roar of Time Adventure Effect to pause that Lucky Egg's timer for a short period of time and get even more XP. Who knows, maybe you'll be able to level up during this Community Day.
This Community Day also marks the release of shiny Litten, Torracat and Incineroar! Thanks to the increased shiny odds, you shouldn't have any trouble finding at least one shiny Litten making this event perfect for shiny hunters. If you're a newcomer, we also recommend taking the time to add Litten and it's evolutions into the Pokédex since, as a starter Pokémon, Litten can be quite the rare spawn.
Sadly, when it comes to the Go Battle League meta, Incineroar is not the Pokémon you want to invest in if you're looking for a strong Fire-type. It does do slightly better when ranking it as a Dark-type - sitting with the bottom half of the top 30 - but there are far stronger options to change from. Still, if you really want an Incineroar on your team, then it's worth experimenting with Blast Burn (the Community Day exclusive move) and Darkest Lariat, which it will be able to learn from this event and onwards.
Pokémon Go's next Community Day Classic: April Community Day Classic date and time explained
The Community Day Classic events in Pokémon Go highlight past Community Day Pokémon and, alongside a host of bonuses, offers you the chance to get Pokémon with exclusive attacks you might have missed.
Here's everything you need to know about April’s Community Day Classic:
Highlighted Pokémon: Bagon
Date: Sunday 7th April
Time: 2pm to 5pm (local time)
Bonus 1: Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
Bonus 2: Incense activated during the event will last for three hours
Bonus 3: Triple Catch XP
Bonus 4: Pokémon photobombing Go Snapshot
Bonus 5: Field research tasks with rewards including Bagon encounters, Stardust and Great Balls
Bonus 6: PokéStop Showcases
Exclusive moves for evolution (Salamence): Outrage (Charged Dragon-type attack)
How useful is this Community Day Classic?
Bagon’s Community Day Classic is the perfect time to add a powerful Salamence to your team, because, outside of its Shadow and Mega Evolutions, Salamence remains one of the strongest Dragon-type Pokémon in the game. The meta won’t always remain this way but it’s still worth taking the time to add it to your collection, especially if you're a newcomer and haven’t had the chance to add a strong Dragon-type to your collection yet.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that Mega Salamence is the third best Dragon-type Mega Evolution, so creating a strong Salamence now will help you in the future when you have enough of its Mega Energy to conduct the evolution.
As always, this Community Day Classic is also perfect for shiny hunters as the increased odds will make it far easier to find a shiny Bagon. With the increased number of Bagon spawns, you’ll also have no issue gathering the candy you need to add a shiny Shelgon and Salamence to your collection either.
Another reason why you might want to partake in this Community Day Classic is the chance to add progress to your Dragon-type Catch medal (also known as the Dragon Tamer medal). Dragon is by far the rarest type in Pokémon Go, so reaching this medal’s Platinum Rank can be quite the task outside of events like this.
Finally, even if Bagon doesn’t catch your fancy, it’s worth partaking in this event for the triple catch XP bonus. This offers you the chance to gather up a bunch of XP, and maybe even level up, during the three event hours, especially if you decide to use a Lucky Egg as well. It’s also a good idea to wait till this Community Day Classic is live to catch your first Pokémon of the day, so you can have that bonus tripled. Always nice to see a large amount of XP when you catch a Pokémon…
How to prepare for Pokémon Go Community Day
First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours.
Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies don't appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon - there's a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If you're struggling, try 'shiny checking', by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next.
Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items - Berries and the like - but it's an additional thing to complete as you play.
Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny.
The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one (or in multiple) and then walk between the PokéStops; taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you don't run out of Poké Balls or Berries.
It's also an ideal time to experiment with either a Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure or Magnetic Lure Modules. These special lures attract a specific type of Pokémon depending on your chosen Lure. If you wanted to catch Water or Ice Pokémon, for example, then you would use a Glacial Lure Module. These specialised Lure Modules cost 200 PokéCoins from the in-game shop..
There are also specific bonuses for each Community Day, from reduced hatching distance to increased Stardust and XP. Even without the bonuses, remember Community Day is an opportunity to catch a lot of creatures in a short space of time, useful if you want to get through the backlog of Eggs in your roster, or put on a Lucky Egg or Star Piece to increase your gains from catches.
Remember, if there is a deduced hatch rate, you only get bonus on Eggs you put into incubators during Community Day bonus hours. If you have an egg in an incubator before the event starts, it's hatch distance still stay the same. Also, if you don't hatch it before the event ends, it will stay that reduced distance until it does - so worth cramming one last one in before the event finishes!
Also before the event itself, it may also be worth stockpiling Pinap Berries and Great or Ultra Balls. The Pinaps will increase your Candy gains - useful for evolving and powering up after the event ends - and you can really burn through Poké Balls over the course of the event. If you run out, then spin PokéStops or complete the newly added Field Research that appears.
Finally, make sure you evolve the highlighted Pokémon to its third evolution to get an exclusive move. More of this in the following section...
The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go, giving you the chance to catch Poipole. The World of Wonders: Taken Over event is currently running, bringing the It's a Rocket World special research quest with it. Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.
Pokémon Go Community Day list: All exclusive moves list and how they work
Every featured Pokémon during a Community Day weekend will offer an exclusive move when evolved to its final evolution.
Not only are these exclusive to these weekends, but they are more often than not the best move their third evolution can offer, and can propel them up the meta.
You have two hours after the Community Day ends to evolve the Pokémon to get their move, so don't worry about having to sort through your collection during the six hour window.
If you miss out on evolving the Pokémon once Community Day weekend is over to get the exclusive move, don't panic - you can use an Elite TM, or wait until December, where a special weekend will give you another chance to catch and evolve that previous year's Community Day Pokémon.

Pokémon Go Community Day Classic list: All exclusive moves list
Community Day Classic events in Pokémon Go highlight a past Community Day Pokémon and, just like the regular event, offers you a chance to get a Pokémon with an exclusive attack.
The rules for earning this exclusive move are exactly the same too - you must reach the final evolution for the chosen Pokémon and said evolution must take place during the event or within the first two hours after it ends.
These moves may not always be the best attack for this Pokémon, but, if want it and miss out on the event, you can always use an Elite TM on the final evolution to teach them the move.
Hope you enjoy the next Community Day!
