Zelda - Ha Dahamar and The Water Guides trial solution in Breath of the Wild

How to beat the Duelling Peaks challenge.

Ha Dahamar is one of the many Shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The challenge inside, named The Water Guides trial, is a puzzle that has you use your Cryosis rune ability to climb platforms and manipulate puzzles. Get it right, and you can walk out a success.

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Shrine location maps page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

Where to find Ha Dahamar

The Ha Dahamar shrine is located within the Dueling Peaks region, specifically just to the west of Dueling Peaks Stable. To get there, head east of the Dueling Peaks Tower through the ravine between the two Dueling Peaks, and it's on your left as you come out the other end.

Otherwise, head to the Dueling Peaks Stable and look to the west to see it right in front of you, in a small pond.

The Ha Dahamar shrine has a small entry puzzle to get through before you can get inside for the trial itself. Protecting the entrance is a ring of thorny spines sticking out of the water.

There's no discernable way to destroy them, so you'll need to climb up somewhere nearby and paraglide down to the entrance just inside the ring of spikes. The hillside just behind the shrine is a good place to try dropping from.

Ha Dahamar and The Water Guides trial solution

The Water Guides is all about using your Cryosis ability. First up, you'll find a waterfall with a pool of water beneath it, and a ledge that's too high to climb to. Use the Cryosis ability to raise a platform under yourself and hop up to the next level.

Next, you learn that Cryosis also works horizontally: only the waterfall, with no pool beneath, is between you and the next ledge. Use two pillars of ice, coming out of the wall, like steps to get to the next level.

Before moving on, turn back around and look up to see a chest on a ledge in the waterfall. Use more horizontal blocks as steps in the same way to get up there, and claim a valuable Purple Rupee!

Next up, a puzzle to the far right of the room.

Here, you need to place three blocks of ice on the back wall to redirect the falling ball into the socket below. The positions can be seen here - start with the top left that's between the two ramps, then the middle which is under the see-saw ramp to stop it dropping, then bottom right one to act as a bridge for the ball to reach the socket:

That's it! Head down the ramp and through the now open gate to claim your Spirit Orb and exit the trial.

While you're here, here are other Shrines within this region:
