Zelda - Daka Tuss and Sunken Scoop trial solution in Breath of the Wild

How to find and clear the Lanayru Region trial.

Daka Tuss is one of the many Shrines located throughout Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The challenge inside, named the Sunken Scoop trial, is a puzzle that has you use the Magnesis ability to scoop orbs out of water with a metal bowl. Get it right, and you'll walk out a success.

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Shrine location maps page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

Where to find Daka Tuss

The Daka Tuss shrine is located within the Lanayru Tower region, specifically to the south-west of Lanayru Tower, towards the southern side of the marshy Wetlands area. To get there, paraglide as far south-east as possible from the Tower, and then traverse the many archipelago of the Wetlands.

You'll see the Daka Tuss shrine on one of the medium-sized islands, accessible by small wooden panel bridges.

There's no puzzle to solve here in order to access the shrine, so simply dive in when you're ready.

Daka Tuss and Sunken Scoop trial solution

Your job here is to lift up the metal bowl with your Magnesis ability, and use it to scoop out an orb from the water, then place that orb in the cage that contains a socket to the right.

It's a little awkward, but easily done once you get the hang of it - getting the ball out of the scoop can be done with the use of just a bit of momentum… or whacking it against the wall.

After you've done that, it's time for room two. The same principle applies here, but this time there's a button at the bottom of the water, and a lid on the cage for the orb. The button needs to be pressed down in order for the orb to fall in the cage.

To solve the problem, first carefully place the orb on top of the cage.

Then, you can drop the bowl onto the button in the water, which will open the lid to the cage and drop the orb in, which will in turn fall into the socket and drain the two rooms of water, allowing you to pass.

Before you head to the exit though, head back to the first room, which will now have an accessible doorway to a hidden chest, which contains a 22 strength Silver Longsword.

After that, you can head back to the second room and exit through the door at the bottom of the pit, and you're done!

While you're here, here are other Shrines within this region:
