Here's a better look at Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

There's a new, better trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the smartphone game which lets you become a student at JK Rowling's magical school.

Previously we've only seen a glimpse at gameplay - it all looked a bit Sims 2 - but there's a bigger slice of what the game will offer in the fresh footage below.

More excitingly for Potter fans, there's a look at the familiar faces we'll see in the game, such as Professors Sprout, McGonagall, Snape and Flitwick, plus Hagrid, Dumbledore and a school-age Bill Weasley.

One new character, Merula, appears to be your rival. Well, she is a Slytherin.

For Potter fans, the game is technically a prequel to the book series - set after Harry's birth but years before he reaches school age.

There's no firmer release date still than "2018", but Android device owners can sign up for an Google Play alert to be notified when the app has been released and their owl has arrived.
