Super Mario Odyssey Purple Star Coin locations - how to find Purple Star Coins

  • Kingdom: Mushroom Kingdom
  • Total Coins: 100

Regional Coins in the Mushroom Kingdom are coin-shaped with a star in the middle. Of all the kingdoms, this one offers one of the easiest spread of Regional Coins (mainly because it's unlocked after the main game is completed and is a pretty laid back place to explore).

Most coins are concentrated in packs of three and fairly evenly spread across the map as most of its open fields and towers. There's also lots of unique items to buy from the Crazy Cap shop that are only available in this region, including the Mario 64 Cap and Mario 64 outfit. A must for any Nintendo connoisseur.

Want to grab some easy coins as soon as you land? There's three on the rocks behind the Odyssey and four more on the fountain right in front of this. This is a great way to stock up from the off. There's even another three to the right of the Odyssey on the grass.

Better yet, run around the back and find three more above a yellow toadstool, and another three on the edge of a waterfall. Look down, and you'll find six that are really easy to miss - three on the back of the purple dinosaur, and three more under the water.

There's three behind the single tower with a hat door (to the east of the map). If you collect these, there are another three behind the green hedge beside the tower. In fact, there's another three on the other side of the hedges, and a few on the edge of the hill behind you.

There's lots behind the main castle, too. Look for two sets of three on the stone ledges of the hill. Another on a lower level, then another three beside a far tree. On the tower behind the castle (the one surrounded by apple trees), you'll find three more coins just waiting to be collected.

Need more help? Our Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough goes through every objective in each Kingdom, while our Power Moon locations can help you track down the likes of Cascade Kingdom Power Moons, Sand Kingdom Power Moons, Metro Kingdom and New Donk City Power Moons and more collectables. We also have Purple Coin locations for each Kingdom, and if you want to know what to spend it on, we have a hats list, outfits list, stickers list, a souvenirs list as well as a music list to kit out the appearance of both Mario and the Odyssey. Once you've finished the game, check out the free Balloon World update, too.

There's also a set of three on the single tower near the road leading up to the main castle. To reach them, throw your cap at a white flower to speed up. Leap off the ledge to the tower's rear to reach its red roof.

There are also two more coins above a tree to the left of the tower (when facing its door). Climb up, do a handstand on top and leap off to grab them. There's even another three in the copse nearby.

You'll find four under the first bridge leading up to the main castle, and another three under main (in the moat) that leads directing into the castle. This aren't obvious (the second set especially) if you're not coming from the right direction, so jump in and add some Regional Coins to your collection.

There's also some inside Peach's Castle. You'll find three behind the main chair at the top of main staircase (these are very easy to miss on your travels), but that it's in terms of Region Coins inside this building. The rest are scattered around this peaceful little realm.
