Super Mario Odyssey Moon Kingdom Power Moons - where to find Moon Kingdom Moons

Where to find the main set of Bowser Kingdom Power Moons.

Moon Kingdom Power Moons are what you'll find on this page, where we detail each Moon Kingdom Power Moon and its location in the region with accompanying screens for extra clarity.

This is where to find Moon Kingdom Moons then, but for other regions you can cycle back to our Power Moon locations guide hub, or our main Super Mario Odyssey guide and walkthrough hub for much more.

On this page:

Super Mario Odyssey Moon Kingdom Power Moons 1 to 10

There are 27 Power Moons to find in total.

1. Shining Above the Moon

Posses the frog behind the church in Ever-After Hill. Carefully guide it all the way back to the Odyssey (taking care with the narrow bridge you need to leap over in the middle of the map). Now look for a small shadow by the Odyssey, leap extra high (shake the Joy-Cons) and grab the Moon.

2. Along the Cliff Face

To the west of the Odyssey, approach the cliffside edge and glimpse a ledge and a Warp Pipe. Navigate this lunar 2D section and claim the Moon on the far right-hand side.

3. The Tip of a White Spire

Climb the right-hand side of the church just past Ever-After Hill (use the frog at the rear of the building to do this). Jump out and use Cappy on the spire shown to reveal a Moon.

4. Rolling Rock on the Moon

From the Odyssey, head towards the area with the Moonsnakes and the Astro-Lanceur. Kick the rocks here to reveal one that glows. Hit it enough to reveal the Moon inside.

5. Caught Hopping on the Moon!

Northwest of the Odyssey, look for an Astro-Lanceur (floating squid). In this area you'll find a rabbit. Hit it with Cappy and run into it to reveal another Moon for your collection.

6. Cliffside Treasure Chest

West of the Ringing-Bells Plateau, use the rocket flower to reach the platform on the other side (remember to jump at the last minute). Open the chest to reveal the Moon inside.

7. Moon Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

From the Odyssey, run towards the very edge of the opening area (towards the rest of the map). Look down the edge to see a ledge with a scarecrow. Use your long jumps to make the big leaps across the chequered platforms.

8. Taking Notes: On the Moon's Surface

From Ringing-Bells Plateau, head towards the high platform patrolled by an Astro-Lanceur. On the other side is a clef. It will reveal two arching lines of notes. Use long jumps on either side to collect the notes in time. A Moon appears if you get them in time.

9. Under the Bowser Statue

From the Quiet Wall, enter the cave entrance. As soon as you enter, possess the Bowser statue to the right (you'll need to climb it to reach the green marker on top). Shift the statue forwards to reveal a recess with a Moon.

10. In a Hole in the Magma

In between the Quiet Wall and Ever-After Hill checkpoints, use a Parabones to fly past the platform with the caged Spark pylon and look for a cylindrical hole in the magma. Float down carefully and take a dangerous Moon home.

11. Around the Barrier Wall

When the Banzai Bill bursts through the wall in the Underground Moon Caverns, possess it, then ride through the route marked out by gold rings. On your left, look for a wall with a Moon hidden cheekily behind it.

12. On Top of the Cannon

In the Underground Moon Caverns, progress to the point where a Banzai Bill bursts through a wall at you. Possess it and ride it through the gold ring route. Now aim for the next Banzai Bill launcher (the front, obviously). Jump onto the launcher itself and do a Ground Pound to release the Moon.

13. Fly to the Treasure Chest and Back

Possess a Banzai Bill and aim for the point rock above where you enter this underground area from Quiet Wall (it'll have two big Bowser statues, so it's hard to miss). Look for a square opening in the middle of this rock. Fly towards it (press 'Y' to accelerate and shake the Joy-Cons for added speed) and land inside. Hit the chest and claim the Moon within.

14. Up in the Rafters

Use a frog to reach the bell tower of the church (at the very end of the map). Drop down the hole and you'll land on the rafters in the church hallway. Carefully walk around to reach the Moon in front of you.

15. Sneaking Around in the Crater

Look for a crater beside the Odyssey. Hit the sparkling lump that moves, then quickly Ground Pound it to reveal a moon-based Moon.

16. Found on the Moon, Good Dog!

From the Odyssey, approach the dog outside the Crazy Cap shop and let it sniff out a few coin stashes in some craters. Eventually he'll follow you. Lead him down the ramp to the north-east corner of this first area. He'll do some sniffing and reveal a Moon location. Ground Pound, and it's yours.

17. Moon Shards on the Moon

Head behind the church where you stop the Bowser wedding in the story. Behind the building in a crater is a frog. Use it to collect the five Shards, and the Moon, show in our screenshots.

18. Moon Quiz: Amazing!

From Quiet Wall, head around to the right of the cliff face until you reach the Sphynx. Speak to him, and answer the questions as follows: Sheep, Moon, Below the bell and Floated by airship sail. The Moon here is yours for the taking.

19. Thanks, Captain Toad!

Post story, you'll find Captain Toad gathered with a group of tourists marvelling at the view near the Odyssey. Speak to him to get a Moon for your set.

20. Shopping in Honeylune Ridge

Head to the Crazy Cap shop in the Moon Kingdom (located near the Odyssey) to buy the Moon behind the counter. It will cost you a mere 100 gold coins.

21. Walking on the Moon!

From the Odyssey, leap over the first ledge and approach the Koopa in a space helmet. This walking challenge is actually quite easy as the Moon gravity makes walking slower and thus easier to manoeuvre. Use the ridge to the right of you and the crater to the left to help gauge your turning circle. Score 80 or more points to win a Moon.

22. Moon Kingdom Regular Cup

From the Wedding Hall checkpoint, speak to the Koopa to start the race. Best tips for this race are relying on your long jump to gain distance on long stretches. Use the narrow bridge to the left of where you drop down during the start of the race and look out for a speed flower after the bridge with the Moonsnake. Use it to power towards the final platform. Wall jump up and cross the finish line in first to get your Moon.

23. Doctor in the House

Buy the Doctor Headwear and Doctor Outfit from any Crazy Cap shop (unlocked after collected 220_2" caption="" />40 Power Moons). It'll cost you 300 gold coins in total to purchase them. Warp to the Wedding Hall checkpoint and enter the building. To the right of the main chamber, speak to the poorly Shiverian to receive a Moon for your kindly bedside manner.

24. Sphynx's Hidden Vault

To the right of the cave entrance that leads to the Underground Moon Cavern, follow the edge of the cliff to find a Sphynx. Answer his simple riddle to reveal a hidden vault and a Moon inside a chest.

25. A Tourist in the Moon Kingdom

This Moon forms part of a multi-kingdom quest that starts in the Sand Kingdom. See that Moon's description (Moon #68 in the Sand Kingdom - 'Round-the-World Tourist) in this guide and follow the steps to reveal the Power Moon in this kingdom. The tourist and the taxi will be found just near the Odyssey. Speak to the tourist to get your Moon.

26. Peach in the Moon Kingdom

To find Peach, warp to the Wedding Hall, possess the frog to the rear of the building then leap up to the bell tower. While avoiding falling down the hole beneath the bell, speak to Peach to receive this next Moon.

27. Found with Kingdom Art

This art is found in the hallway of the Wedding Hall itself. It shows a location in the Wooded Kingdom near a scarecrow. To find it, head to the Wooded Kingdom, warp to Iron Road: Entrance, run around the path to the left and Ground Pound the corner next to the scarecrow to reveal the final Moon for the Moon Kingdom.

Other Moon Kingdom Power Moons you can unlock

As well as the above Moons that appear when you clear a Kingdom for the first time, there is yet another set that you can collect later in the game. Be warned the following contains some light spoilers.

When exploring each Kingdom previously, you may have noticed a giant, grey block that seemingly has no purpose. It's this object you must find once you have completed the game that'll give you even more things to do.

The above video by Nintendo Life explains this in more detail, but in short - complete the game, find the block in any given Kingdom, and more Moons will be available for you to find.

We won't detail these extra Moons here, but the number of these extra challenges available in each Kingdom varies - just like the amount of Moons you could find to begin with. Good luck!
