Destiny 2 Valentine's Day event revives fan-favourite Destiny 1 map

My heart will go on.

One of Destiny's best Crucible maps, The Burning Shrine, will be added to Destiny 2 next week.

The Mercury-based location is being reborn as The Burnout, and is the star of Destiny 2's upcoming Valentine's Day event Crimson Days.

Back in Destiny 1, The Burning Shrine was a common map used in Trials of Osiris (and it's where I booked my passage with plenty of help to get to the coveted Lighthouse).

The map's layout looks identical, although it has been rethemed to be set in the dark, Vex-dominated alternate future glimpsed in December's The Curse of Osiris DLC.

It's the second time Bungie has returned a popular Destiny 1 map. The original game's Shores of Time was remastered back in October.

As in Destiny 1, Crimson Days will feature a 2v2 playlist designed for fans to play in couples.

"Stay in close proximity to your partner and your abilities recharge at a faster rate," Bungie described in a new blog post.

"Stray too far, and your enemies will be given a waypoint leading to your location. If you can't find a partner, don't worry. We'll play matchmaker and find one for you."

Crimson Days will also, of course, include new loot. These new items will be gained through levelling up in any event across Destiny 2 from next Tuesday, 13th February.

Other rewards to grind for will be added to the Crimson Days Crucible playlist (an exotic Sparrow), the raid (an exotic Ornament for Wardcliff Coil) and the Nightfall (a dance emote).

There's a system to stop duplicate items from dropping until you have collected all of the bits and pieces collected above. And, of course, you'll also be able to directly acquire a selection through Bright Dust purchases via Eververse.
