The Escapists 2 is heading to Switch in January

Joy-Conviction.

Team 17 has announced that its knockabout prison break sim sequel The Escapists 2 is coming to Switch on January 11th.

"Risk it all to breakout from the toughest prisons in the world," says the publisher, "Explore the biggest prisons yet, with multiple floors, roofs, vents and underground tunnels. You'll have to live by the prison rules, attending roll call, doing prison jobs and following strict routines; all the while secretly engineering your bid for freedom!"

The Escapists 2 is the work of developer Mouldy Toof Studios and first released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One earlier this year. It expands on the original game's winning, and incredibly popular, formula with new customisation options, new themed prisons, new escape methods and crafting recipes, and, most notably, a multiplayer mode.

All those features will make it to the Switch edition, which supports up to four-players in online co-op and versus modes, and two-player drop-in/drop-out split-screen play. For the latter, would-be escapees can use either a single Joy-Con each or two Pro Controllers.

The Escapists 2 will release on the Switch eShop on the January 11th next year for £19.99 / $19.99 USD, giving it price parity with other platforms. It will be available to pre-purchase, and pre-load, from the 4th January.
