As for the very best consoles you can get your hands on right now, let's take a look at the options.

Christmas 2017 PS4 Bundles

The first thing to figure out is whether you're after a PS4 Slim or a PS4 Pro. Both systems offer the same library of games and both can be paired with Sony's PlayStation VR headset in order to expand that library of games. The main difference here is performance - the PS4 Pro is a more powerful machine capable of outputting games in 4K resolutions and improving the frame-rates of older titles. If you own a 4K TV or you're a sucker for a smooth frame-rate, or you just want the absolute best thing possible, the PS4 Pro is for you. For everyone else - the PS4 Slim will do just fine.

Christmas 2017 Xbox One Bundles

Similarly to the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro the main difference between the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X comes down to power. The Xbox One X is currently the most powerful console on the market, with more RAM and horsepower than the PS4 Pro and the ability to natively run games in 4K rather than just outputting them at the resolution. It's the pricier option, however, so keep that in mind. The Xbox One S outputs games and movies at 4K as well and comes equipped with a 4K Blu-ray player, too, but you won't be getting the extra bang for your buck.

Christmas 2017 Nintendo Switch Bundles

Nintendo's entry into the console market takes an entirely different approach. The Switch is a hybrid console - part home gaming system and part handheld, meaning players can be playing a game on their TV at home and simply pick up the console to continue playing in another room, on the bus, on a plane, at a friend's rooftop party or wherever else. The console may only have been out for a few months but the catalog of games available is bulking up quite nicely, with both Mario and Zelda titles already seeing release.
