Yooka-Laylee - World 3 boss Trev the Tenteyecle strategy - Explore Moodymaze Marsh's Extended World and defeat the upset kraken

How to tackle the tentacled foe.

Yooka-Laylee World 3 boss Trev the Tenteyecle greets you at the far end of Moodymaze Marsh's Extended World.

Compared to the World 2 boss Brrreze Blok, it's a fairly straightforward encounter to begin - but the boss itself can be far more troublesome.

If you need more help, then consult our Yooka-Laylee guide and walkthrough for finding Pagies and other collectibles.

How to reach the World 3 boss in Moodymaze Marsh

To get there, Extend the world and head past where Trowzer is located to see a series of logs in the swamp that stretch out to a new area.

Head to the far end of the new area - across the logs to the right, up a few ledges to where a Tonic awaits - where there is an octopus building looming beyond. Simply run into the doorway to start the boss battle.

Trev the Tenteyecle boss strategy

The boss essentially has two stages. A tentacle will sweep along the floor back and forth; leap over it each time - it's a predictable side-to-side movement - but beware it'll lift up in the centre when it's done and slam creating a shockwave, so make sure you're towards the sides and ready to leap.

The slam will cause it to become dazed, and it'll lie on the ground with its eyes open. Spin attack all three eyes until they're shut.

The second phase sees the end of the tentacle will chase you from above. Run around, and when it stops, it'll strike down at the position, creating another shockwave. Double jump over it to steer clear.

After two of those, an eye will appear in a hole in the wall. Run over and leap and spin into it over and over to deal more damage, and when the platform below starts to wobble, then's your time to retreat.

This is essentially the boss in a nutshell, though there are additional modifiers and changes as time goes on. Keep going until text appears, which adds water to the arena, slowing you down.

You'll also be chased by an upright tentacle between phases; this is the hardest part since the water will slow you down, so do continual leaps and a sharp turn or two to move out of the way. The tentacles will also get progressively faster, too, so remember the patterns, the shockwaves, and to keep a wide berth so you don't accidentally get hit.

Once done, you'll receive a Pagie and can head over to World 4, or continue picking up more Pagies and other collectibles here if you like.
