There's a Lord of the Rings card game for PC

And there's no random card purchasing.

The Lord of the Rings will get a card game on PC in 2018.

The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game is a video game version of Fantasy Flight Games' physical Lord of the Rings card game. As such, it retains the fixed distribution of cards, which removes randomness from card purchasing. There's a focus on cooperative, story-based gameplay, too.

Played single-player, the game tasks players with leading a team of three heroes through a series of narrative campaigns set across Middle-earth. You fight against the forces of Sauron, which are controlled by the computer, and build decks made up of ally, event and equipment cards.

The Lord of the Rings comes out on Steam as a single-player-only Early Access title in the coming months. Fantasy Flight said the game will be updated in the future to support co-op, which lets two players complete quests side-by-side. It'll then launch proper as a free-to-play title later in 2018.
