LA Noire's The Golden Butterfly is one of many cases on the Homicide desk, following on from The Red Lipstick Murder.

The Golden Butterfly

One success under your belt, but this next case takes a dark turn.

Location: Crime Scene

Clues:

  • Talk to the Coroner.
  • Examine the body. Look at her head to find Rope Pattern on her neck, her left arm to find where a ring was violently removed, right arm to see her watch torn off, and her torso to reveal Small Men's Footprints.
  • Examine evidence marker C to find a purse with the name tag Deidre Moller.
  • Examine evidence marker B to find some footprints.

Location: Moller Residence

Clues:

  • On the floor in the bedroom to the right are Size 8 Work boots.
  • On the dresser are the empty cases for her missing watch and wedding ring.

Interview Michelle Moller:

  • Missing Watch and Rings: Good Cop (or Truth in the original version).
  • Last Contact with Victim: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • State of Parents Marriage: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).

Interview Hugo Moller:

  • Footprints at Crime Scene: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Size 8 Work Boots.
  • Missing Persons Report: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Alibi for Hugo Moller: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Husband's Alibi.
  • Movements of Victim: Good Cop (or Truth in the original version). (This question may not appear.)
  • History of Violence: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Butterfly Brooch.

When you leave the house the woman across the street will call you over. Speak to her, and then run after Hugo Moller as he makes a break for it.

Clues:

  • Examine the incinerator to find Size 8 Bloody shoes.

If you only got four questions when talking to Hugo, use the telephone to get the Belmont High School address. Do not skip the dialogue during the journey to your next location.

Location: Belmont High School

Chase Eli Rooney, and you will discover he has the Butterfly Brooch.

Clues:

  • The Bloody Tire Iron, Rope, and Overalls are in the trunk of the car.

Next, use the telephone.

Location: Central Morgue

This location is only available if you didn't skip the dialogue during your journey to Belmont High School.

Clues:

  • Examine the ropes; choose the bottom one to activate some dialogue.
  • Examine the shoe imprints; choose the left one to activate some dialogue.
  • Examine the victim's corpse.

Location: Police HQ

Interrogation of Hugo Moller (Interview Room 2):

  • Disposal of Evidence: Good Cop (or Truth in the original version).
  • Access to Braided Rope: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Access to Tire Iron: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Bloody Tire Iron.
  • Victim's Vehicle Recovered: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Overalls.

Don't charge Hugo with the murder.
