Gladius - Relics of War looks like Warhammer 40,000 meets Civilization

And the Necrons are in it.

There's a new Warhammer 40,000 game in the works - yes, another one! - but this one looks interesting.

Gladius - Relics of War looks a lot like a Warhammer 40,000-flavoured Civilization game. It's developed by Proxy Studios, maker of 4X turn-based game Pandora: First Contact, and published by Slitherine, the company behind Warhammer 40,000 games Armageddon and Sanctus Reach.

The video, below, reveals the four races: Space Marines, Astra Militarum (aka Imperial Guard), Orks and Necrons. I'm particularly excited about the inclusion of the Necrons. It's been a good while since I got the chance to use Warhammer 40,000's mysterious race of robotic skeletal warriors in a video game.

Slitherine said Gladius - Relics of War is the first 4X turn-based strategy game set in Warhammer 40,000. Here's the official blurb:

"Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War incorporates the dark, gothic, far future science-fantasy setting in ways never tried before. A brand new, deep storyline has been created to combine elements of 4X gameplay with a combat-focused system. The evolution of technology, construction of infrastructures and exploration of an unknown world, goes hand in hand with the management of military resources, including heroes with special abilities and mighty war machines."
