Yooka-Laylee - World 2 boss Brrreze Blok strategy - Explore Icymetric Palace in Glitterglaze Glacier's Extended World and beat the boiler boss

How to beat the freezing adversary.

Glitterglaze Glacier's Extended World in Yooka Laylee plays host to the Icymetric Palace, which is the domain of World 2 boiler boss Breeze Blok.

Following on from World 1 boss Rampo, the area requires you purchase some specific moves from the world, and exploring the rather confusing Icymetric Palace.

How to reach Glitterglaze Glacier's Extended World

First, reach the world (you'll have to complete quiz answers) and extend the world with five Pagies. Next, get the Slurp State move from Trowzer for 40 Quills, which allows you to absorb the properties of the things you eat to navigate the world in new ways.

Once you have it, eat honey from the beehive that's between Dr Puzz and the giant ice ramp opposite to become yellow and sticky. This allows you to walk up icy slopes.

Take the icy slope up, and when you reach a small wall and another slope. Top up your sticky state by using the beehive on the platform opposite (use the edge of the tower to leap across), then continue onward to the top of the slope. Open the locked door to enter Icymetric Palace.

Exploring Icymetric Palace and how to reach World 2 boiler boss

Inside, there are three paths to begin with - up, right and down. Each of these then forks off to even more paths, most of which lead to new Pagies. It's a bit of a labyrinth, and we'd recommend you best explore it once you've completed the boss, which opens up even more opportunities.

To reach the boss, take the right path, then immediately go up using the moving platform (you may need the Lizard Leap move to reach it) then down the next path leading up off the screen.

In the next room, ground pound the button to activate checkpoints round a race course. It's easiest if you kill the enemies first before you start, and with one minute to make three laps (20 seconds a lap) you'll need to roll for as much as you can. The final corners are snow covered, so it's easiest if you leap over them instead. Once complete, a chest will reveal pellet flowers you can eat. Use one to knock down the wall in the upper left, and continue on to the next area.

Next, head down the platform, past the fire planet and go up the next one to find a water plant and a locked gate. To open it, absorb the water plant's seeds and head back down, and walk towards the camera to reveal an ice cube protected by flame.

Extinguish the flames, then use a fire seed to melt the ice cube. Hit the button that's revealed to lower the gate. To progress past the flaming platforms, use water pellets as you leap from one to the next.

On the next screen, chat to Burnie the boiler and enter his innards for a boss fight.

How to beat World 2 boss Brrreze Blok

This boss fight is deceptively simple. All you need to do is grab one of the fire berries from the tree, and breathe fire on the boss as it moves along the far wall. The boss will stay on this wall and occasionally pause to fire a projectile directly at you; simply stand back and move from side-to-side to dodge it.

It might not seem much is happening when you're breathing fire, but over time the boss will melt and reduce in size, and speech will appear on screen to indicate you're on the right track.

While it's simple, it's not exactly easy. As the boss melts and reduces in size, it also increases in speed, making it harder to hit. Also, the projectiles it fires increase in number and velocity.

While there's a fan that moves side-to-side that you can use as cover, we'd recommend you ignore it, as multiple projectiles can easily catch you even if you're hiding. It's best to run from one end of the room to the other in a wide arc away from the boss.

You'll need to keep eating fire berries throughout the battle, and we'd recommend doing so whenever you're running across the room dodging projectiles. Keep repeating the process, until the boss becomes so small it shrinks and disappears entirely.

Once the battle is over, you'll get the 'Knocking Down Walls' Achievement / Trophy, a Pagie and activate vents throughout the Icymetric Palace will start blowing hot air, allowing you to reach new areas, one of which is in the same room as the Boiler, so glide up and grab the Pagie just above.
