PlayStation 4 update that adds Pro boost mode out tomorrow

Plus external hard drive support, custom wallpapers and more.

Sony will uncork PlayStation 4's latest update for everyone tomorrow, unlocking several long-awaited features and PS4 Pro's much talked about Boost mode.

PS4 system update 4.5 will finally let you store and run games or apps from an external hard drive or USB drive. The only caveat is that your device needs to be between 250GB and 4TB in size.

You can also now set a screenshot as your background, post status updates and GIFs of your gameplay in your activity feed, voice chat while using Remote Play and watch 3D Blu-Rays using PlayStation VR.

Here's a trailer:

For PlayStation 4 Pro owners, however, its likely the new Boost mode will be the biggest feature. This setting will increase the performance of some games which haven't been patched specifically for PS4 Pro.

Sony states you'll see boosted frame rates and faster loading times. As ever, Digital Foundry has already put Boost mode to the test. Just how good is it?
