UPDATE 17/01/2017 7.38pm: Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls now has an official release date of 23rd June in Europe and 27th June in North America. Despair no more!

ORIGINAL STORY 19/11/2016 1.06am: Cult classic series spin-off Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is coming to PS4 next summer, publisher NIS has announced.

It will be available both digitally and physically.

Having launched on Vita last September, Ultra Despair Girls is the action-adventure spin-off of the Danganronpa visual novel series, which focuses on groups of teenagers forced to kill one another by a psychotic bear named Monokuma.

Ultra Despair Girls is a third-person action game set between Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and it focuses on a girl named Komaru Naegi trying to escape a city run by Monokuma robots.

Both Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair are also slated for a PS4 release in early 2017.

Eurogamer contributor Cassandra Khaw wrote an impassioned plea on why others should jump onboard Spike Chunsoft's peculiar series.
