Pokémon Sun and Moon leak reveals version exclusives

And it includes Red and Blue species.

Pokémon Sun and Moon are still over a week away from release, but details of the games have been trickling out online from those with early copies.

Better than Sandslash.

Now, players on Reddit have discovered the list of critters which are only available from a particular version of the game - and which owners of the other edition will need to acquire via trading.

Gibbon-like Passimian, lava tortoise Tortunator and Lycanroc's Midday forme are all exclusive to Sun, along with that game's legendary Pokémon Solgaleo (the one from the front of the box).

The Alolan Vulpix and Ninetails are also Sun-exclusive.

The Expansion version of the mysterious UB-02 Ultra Beast is exclusive, too. Ultra Beasts are heavily rumoured to be versions of key human characters in the game.

Orangutan-like Oranguru, smoke dragon Drampa and Lycanroc's Midnight forme are all Moon exclusives, meanwhile. Moon's legendary is Lunala.

Moon owners will get Alolan Sandshrew and Sandslash, which are frankly inferior to Vulpix and Ninetails in every way.

Finally, Moon will get the Beauty version of UB-O2.

It's a little surprising to see Pokémon from the original 151 as version exclusives, although these are their new Alolan versions. (You can trade Red and Blue species into Sun and Moon, although they will remain their original forms. Alolan versions will need to be gained from Sun and Moon themselves.)

We played the first couple of hours of Pokémon Moon last month and found they enjoyably refresh the 20-year old series.
