Lords of the Fallen - Annihilator, Lightning damage, boss phases, stuns

Don't miss our essential guide to simplifying the fight against Lord of the Fallen's Annihilator, and taking this fearsome boss down with ease.

Don't be too intimidated by the showdown with the Annihilator, as it's actually one of the simplest boss fights in the game - as long as you play it right, that is. First of all, throw on any equipment you have that protects against Lightning damage. We also recommend equipping light armour wherever possible, so you can zip around the place a little more easily. Demon Assassins gear works nicely here if you have it.

Tactics for the Annihilator fight

The most important thing about this boss fight is that you want to maintain as much distance as possible from him when you're not dishing out your damage. This limits your opponent to just two attacking moves while he's above 50% health.

The first sees him bend down and race towards you, and it's very easy to spot when it's coming. For the second move, the Annihilator will hurl his weapon at you - again, a very clearly telegraphed move. Just dodge out of its path, then get into range and do as much damage as you can before the weapon returns. By all means do a little damage with your Gauntlet when you're far away, but the bulk of your offensive work should happen in melee range.

As soon as the boss's health bar reaches 50%, he'll start using an attack that leaves you temporarily stunned - you'll know this is coming when he throws his hands up to the sky. When this happens, get as far away from the boss as you can. You'll still be stunned regardless, but it will take the Annihilator longer to reach you, and so give him less time to inflict uninterrupted damage.

Once you've kill the Annihilator, make sure you loot the Sealed Rune (Big) and the Lightning Hammer weapon. Next up is the Lost Brothers and what to do with the Planetarium Chest Key.
